You want a seamless experience. Someone who will execute your vision flawlessly. But you also don't mind going a little off script — be a little adventurous if it means getting the shot that truly commands a room.
"In the pouring rain? Yes, absolutely!"
"Would you be down to do this one last shot with me? We're gonna need some help, but I promise it's going to be epic!"
Wedding photography doesn’t have to be boring. Some moments deserve to feel larger than life — the kind of photographs you stop and stare at, the ones you’d proudly display on your wall.
Not just epic, but emotive photographs that will make you feel the sweat, shed the tears.
Yes, you’re looking for somebody to capture the moments. But what does it mean exactly? To me, it’s not enough for moments to be captured. They have to be felt. They have to make you feel the emotions even if you don’t know the people in the photographs.
I photographed this lovely couple in Leavenworth back in 2016. I approached them with the idea of taking a simple portrait during the cocktail hour and asked, “You two?”
They laughed — “Us?”
“Yes,” I said. “You two!”
“Okay!”
Without hesitation, they leaned in and kissed. In a matter of seconds, so much joy and emotion poured out of them — effortless, genuine, and full of life. It was a reminder of what love can look like over time.
I was so happy and relieved to know that we had the right person for the job. Once I viewed the photos, I was overwhelmed with how perfectly they captured the day - several of them absolutely took my breath away. Roddy is so talented and I could not be more grateful that he was there to capture the very special moments of our wedding day.
His artistic eye captured meaningful moments that we now get to go back and relive forever! On the day of the wedding, his attention to detail and calm, confident direction allowed us to be completely present. I never once worried about posing or what to do because he took full ownership of his craft making the experience so fun and natural.
Roddy was very brave and fun with our just-married couple portraits on our wedding day... it was POURING and stormy outside. We thought it was kind of cool, and he was happy to brave the weather and get some awesome shots of us out in the rain. We all wore rainboots, our umbrella was almost flying away, it was far from ideal in many ways, but it is also one of our fondest memories from that night.
Roddy photographed our wedding and was awesome to work with from the beginning! When we met for the first time, he wanted to know the story of our relationship and get to understand us and our style. The print quality and albums are absolutely beautiful. I’d highly recommend Roddy, and we hope he’ll be our photographer for years to come.
