Being in the Greater Seattle area, it's always difficult to predict what the weather will be like on the day of the wedding. Especially around December - chances are it's going to rain at some point on your wedding day. But don’t let the rain discourage you; your photographs can turn out even more beautiful and poetic in the rain.
I have plenty of couples who have asked what we’ll do if it starts raining, and I usually respond, "well, I love it when it rains!" Well, unless it's pouring. Otherwise, the rain always makes everything so much better. It just adds an element of romance into the images.
It was a gloomy day in Kenmore, Washington. Allison and Zach got married at the magnificent chapel at Bastyr University. And let me tell you, not a lot of wedding venues can beat the stunning interior of this chapel.
As soon as it started raining towards the end of the night, I immediately told Zach and Allison it's time to go out and have some fun in the rain.
We picked up an umbrella and went out for about 3 minutes. I used the artificial light behind the couple to capture the droplets of rain falling down from the umbrella for a dramatic effect. The cherry on top, of course, is the couple’s love-filled expressions.
